stylish in saskatoon

Recently I had the opportunity to had a 'Fashion Lunch' at the Odeon Events Centre. It showcased three up and comers in Saskatoon's fashion scene : Niki Gerety , Rebecca King and Sherry Hrycay of Sova Design.

All designers produce their wares in Saskatoon.

Niki Gerety showed a sassy little white floral number perfect for summer nights walking along the riverfront. She also showed us some warm winter sweater dresses, perfect for this weather.

Rebecca King showcased beautiful tailored jackets as well as a cute layered white skirt perfect for dancing the night away in .

Sherri Lynn Hrycay had her models sashay down the runway in retro edwardian inspired hats and assorted headpieces. A favourite of mine was a flapper inspired headband that featured beautiful feathers.

Suprisingly, not all Saskatoon designers are born and bred here.

Niki Gerety recently moved to Saskatoon from Dublin, Ireland.  She has been working in Saskatchewan's film industry as well as creating clothes.

Rebecca King from Hudson Bay , Saskatchewan trained in the art of fashion design at Marvel College in Edmonton, Alta.

Sherri Lynn Hrycay is trained in the art of millinery ( hat making).

With spring on its way , I'm hoping to see more local unique fashions from talented designers around the city.
